Dante Anthony Pastorini, Jr. (1949 - )

Born in Sonora, California, Pastorini played his college football at Santa Clara where he was named to the 1970 Little All-America college football team for the best athletes in the nation from small schools.

Taken 3rd overall in the 1971 draft by Houston, Pastorini was known for his toughness and competitive edge. It was because of that toughness that he became the first player to use the flak jacket so that he could continue to play despite doing so with broken ribs.

He was a 1975 Pro Bowl selection and, later with Oakland, a Super Bowl Champion. Following his retirement from pro football, he raced in the NHRA, acted in several movies, wrote an autobiography, and excelled in business. He is also a member of the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.
