Bret Michael Hedican (1970 - )

A native of St. Paul, and a student of St. Cloud State, Hedican was chosen by the St. Louis Blues in the 1988 draft. Hedican skated for Team USA in the 1992 Olympic Winter Games and met his future wife, Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.

Following the '92 Olympic Games, Hedican made his NHL debut in March of that year and scored his first goal in April. During his third season with the Blues, Hedican was traded to Vancouver to help with their Stanley Cup playoff run. Following five years with the Canucks, he was traded to the Panthers in 99. Three years later, almost to the day, he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes where he would finally hoist the Stanley Cup as an NHL Champion.

Hedican was forced to retire due to injuries, and did so as a member of the Anaheim Ducks in September of 2009.
