The mission of BGC Portland is to empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to discover their full potential as caring, engaged, responsible community members.
Terry Porter (1963 - )
Porter initially made his mark at DIII UW Stevens Point where he was the only NAIA player invited to the 1984 Olympic Trials, and the only NAIA player in the Aloha Basketball All-Star Classic, where he was named to the all-tournament team, and as "top defensive player" and co-MVP. He was also a 2x All-American and 2x POY. He was drafted in the first round of the 1985 draft by Portland.
The bulk of his career was spent in Portland where he was a 2x All-Star and recipient of the prestigious J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. The last 7 years of his playing career were in Minnesota, Miami, and San Antonio. When he did retire from the game, Portland retired his #30 Jersey to the rafters.
